As a public artist, I work with communities to create large, interactive, abstract, yet functional concrete sculptures, such as benches. Mosaic designs made of glass, commercial and handmade ceramic tiles are then attached to the surface of the sculptures. Working with groups from a community, we become a catalyst for change.
My public art work is highly responsive to the group with whom I am working. The project is allowed to evolve naturally so the finished piece is reminiscent of the whole who created it. Starting with the collaborative process, through research and development we work together to create a design process and final work of art, which unites the group and opens a dialogue between the ideas of the individual contributors and the community at large.
